Despite the trailer being new off the production line, we wanted to make it unlike other stock trailers out there – and so began our YouTube research of trailer decorating tips.
We were going to live in the trailer, and wanted to make it our own tiny home. After lengthy browsing and discussion, we agreed on a basic beach theme, and visited Home Depot to pick up our supplies.
- Paint – For the main cabin and bathroom, we chose a Sea Glass Green primer and paint mix that would adhere to the slick factory finish on the walls. We feel the colour will be cool when visiting some of the warmer locations during our travels.
- Wallpaper – For the bedroom, we chose a peel and stick distressed barn board, and for the bathroom, and entry, we chose a wainscoting finish that we painted antique white. The wainscoting wallpaper required an adhesive paste.
- Backsplash: For the kitchen, we chose a peel and stick white mini subway tile, and for the bathroom, we chose a peel and stick sea glass green block pattern.
- Trim: For the bathroom and entry, we installed a small profile white chair rail, and later, to finish of the overall appearance, we installed small profile white baseboard throughout the trailer.
Susan loves decorating and took on the bulk of the work with some help from me. After all that was said (there were a few differences of opinion) and with all that was done, we were amazed at the transformation from stock travel trailer to a cottage themed tiny home.
