During our 14 day quarantine period, we had high speed campground wifi to research destinations for our summer adventures. When listening to various news outlets, we quickly realized our plans would be severely impacted by the pandemic lockdown and travel restrictions.
After a final phone call from the Government of Canada, Border Protection, we were given an all clear to end our mandatory quarantine period. At long last we could restock our supplies, and get some exercise. We found the perfect method to wash bugs and road grime off the truck and trailer – just wet and rub with Bounce Dryer Sheets to dissolve the grime.
We took lovely walks and rode our bicycles along the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, admiring the beautiful scenery and flowering plants.
The pandemic infection rates escalated, more lockdowns were imposed, and our future looked bleaker by the week. During our walks, we reviewed our long term plan, and realized the borders would remain closed until sometime in 2021.
We took the Jeep out of storage and explored some backroads, giving Chloe her first experience in the snow – she loved it and ran around full of energy.
We love living in our travel trailer, but a long cold winter could change that. We started looking for a place to call home and overwinter until the restrictions were lifted and we could resume our travels.
We discussed our needs, our preferred location, and our budget, then searched for available listings. Our initial area of preference was from Summerland up to West Kelowna. We looked at land and small houses, and realized they stretched our budget. We looked at mobile home parks in the same area and found them to be cowered and cluttered.
We expanded our online search to include Penticton all the way up to Vernon and found the perfect fixer-upper at a 55+ mobile home park in Lake Country. It suited our plans, was within a short drive to the airport for future air travel, was between two major shopping areas and hospitals in Kelowna and Vernon, but was still in a rural vineyard and orchard region. We weren’t intimidated by our renovation project in Los Barilles, and we felt ready for another project.
We relocated from Wrights Beach Campground in Penticton to Wood Lake Campground in Lake Country.
