After our relaxing stay at Lake Morena County Park, we headed to the Discover Baja Club offices in San Diego to get FMM Forms, vehicle insurance, some border crossing instructions, a map of the Baja, and campground recommendations. While we were there, we picked up one of the most useful books ever written about camping on the Baja – I highly recommend this book.

Despite lots of traffic on the freeway, we made good progress following our GPS directions to Mission Bay RV Resort.

Like most campgrounds around large cities, we were tightly packed in what felt like a large cement parking lot. Fortunately, the tropical climate of San Diego supports a lush mix of palm trees, bougainvillea, and other drought tolerant plants.
