The gentle raindrops dance across the trailer roof, and the cozy bed pulls me deeper into it’s blissful embrace. I’m in the depths of sleep, then suddenly the wind picks up, driving the rain with newfound ferocity, beating a frantic tattoo against the roof.
The wind increases to tug at the extended awning, causing a desperate flapping, pleading for attention. I’m rudely tugged out of my 3:00am slumber, to deal with the situation. It’s surprising how a jolt of adrenaline and cold rain can sharpen ones senses. Meanwhile, Susan is wrapped in her cocoon of warm sheets, and continues to gently purr, thankful for her earplugs.
The weather subsided, the sun rose, and Chloe’s desperate tugging at her crate door signals it’s time to let her outside.
Today, we had family from Kamloops visit with us before we continue the next next leg of our travels around British Columbia, saying farewell until we return next year.
Thank you for your visit. We will miss you, but thanks to technology, we will Skype whenever we can.
The shadows gradually lengthen and blanket the landscape, until the suns last gentle caress across the hilltops, signalling our second day is drawing to a close.
Our next leg takes us to West Kelowna to visit with some of Susan’s closest friends, who are like family to her.
